Organic farming constitutes a mode of production which uses agricultural and livestock practices, concerned with respecting natural balances. These products are subject to strict regulatory requirements and frequent inspections.
Mas Carlot is a beautiful 17th century Provençal farmhouse located in the Costières de Nîmes, south of the Rhone Valley. It stretches across 65 hectares in the north of the Camargue, where the vines are planted at an altitude of 70 metres, on pebbles rolled by the Rhone.
While the estate had long been cultivated with respect for nature and the soil, in 2017 Cyril Marès requested certification in organic farming. After three years of conversion, this is now official.
Cyril has always lived between the vineyards and orchards of his father Roger Marès. After studying agronomy and viticulture and oenology in Montpellier, he went to make wine on other continents before taking over the estate.
"In each wine I seekthe harmony between the different origins and components of the wine so that everyone feels when drinking it the pleasure I had in making it."
Cyril Marès
