Vineyard and History
The vine has been present in the Rhône valley since ancient times, a sign of a multitude of favorable conditions, such as the relief, the sunshine, the terroir, the temperatures, but above all the Mistral, which cleansed the vineyard in drying it, and thus avoids diseases.
The cultivation of vines continued to develop along the Rhône Valley, from the Romans, to the influence of the Popes in Avignon in the 16th century, then the Kings of France to lead to the recognition of Protected Designations of Origin (formerly Controlled), Côtes du Rhône and Costières de Nîmes.
The Cave des Vignerons de Montfrin, created in 1924, is located on the slopes of the southern slopes, along the Rhône Valley.
The cooperative members of the Montfrin cellar operate 800 hectares of vines, spread across the communes of Montfrin, Meynes, Comps and Théziers.
The vineyard is cultivated on a favorable terrain bringing together a set of hillsides and plateaus, facing south, with soils made up in particular of the famous rolled pebbles.
