Mas des Tourelles in Costières de Nîmes
Mas des Tourelles

Winery
Le Mas des Tourelles is a family wine estate producing wines from Costières-de-Nîmes and Pays d’Oc.

Lands between two regions

In the East of Gard, Beaucaire is wonderfully located on the Rhône in a region with high quality heritage, landscapes and terroirs. The latter have a very old reputation since Gallo-Roman times. Between Provence and Languedoc, this city has received different influences. It is also the northernmost town of the Little Camargue.

In terms of viticulture, Beaucaire is located at the ends of three appellations: Vin de Pays d'Oc for Languedoc, Costières de Nîmes and Côtes du Rhône Gardoises for the Rhône Valley. The Tourelles property is located on the southern slope of the plateau which extends from east to west south of Nîmes and on which the Costières de Nîmes appellation is located.

Its wines were known, particularly those from the terroir known as “Canteperdrix”, cited by Rabelais and drunk at the court of the kings of France. This terroir is the one which extends on this southern slope of the costière, between Beaucaire and the surroundings of Bellegarde. A more localized land still bears this name a few hundred meters from Mas des Tourelles. With more than 90 hectares of vines spread over around twenty different plots, there are so many terroirs (nature of soil, exposure, rainfall) which give our wines their great originality in their grape variety-terroir relationship.
