Château Guiot
When it was acquired in 1975 by the Cornut family, Château Guiot was only a small property of 14 hectares located in Saint-Gilles in the heart of the Costières de Nîmes vineyard. It’s a whole different domain that you’ll see today if you pass by. A vineyard surface area of around 100 hectares, a cellar which has increased from 600 to 2,500 m2, and within 3 years a conversion to organic across the entire vineyard…
The new generation
It is not the arrival of the twin brothers, Alexis and Numa Cornut, which will slow down the development of the estate. Quite the opposite! Great globetrotters, the Cornut brothers like to bring back ideas from their travels which they will then implement in the vineyard or in the cellar to stay in line with the expectations of foreign markets or make the most of the latest packaging innovations or marketing.
Very present on social media, the Cornut brothers are also part of this new generation of winegrowers who like to share their passion with their fans and followers in a creative way.
The favorite vintage
This is the Paulinette vintage, mainly composed of Grenache planted in 1952 and which is the estate’s top-of-the-range vintage. A vintage of excellence, the result of expert work, entirely manual and natural processes, from harvesting to bottling, and which spends thirty-six months in the cellar, including 18 in barrels.
Only 3,000 bottles were produced for the first vintage bottled, 2011, and it was out of stock after six months! Today, production, although larger, does not exceed 10,000 bottles and arouses desire since, last year, Majestic Wines, the largest independent wine merchant in the United Kingdom, achieved a record sale in the style of a battle between Costières de Nîmes and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which allowed 2,400 bottles to be sold in less than two hours.
