Mas des Bressades
In the Marès family we have been winegrowers for 7 generations. Founded in the 1960s by Roger Marès, the Mas des Bressades is located in the south of the Rhône valley in the Costières de Nîmes and extended over 15 hectares. It was in 1996 that the son, Cyril Marès, took over the family estate. It now covers 45 hectares and has been certified in organic farming since 2020.
An unconditional love for wine
Cyril Marès has always been immersed in this universe, thanks to his father, he lived among vineyards and orchards. A passion that continued to grow, and was a real revelation the day he helped his dad “I had a blast, and I knew I wanted to do that”. After studying agronomy and viticulture and oenology in Montpellier, Cyril Marès went to make wine on other continents. First in the United States at Chalone Vineyard then in Chile at Château Cos d’Estournelle and Château Margaux. Trips that provide him with technique and an open mind. It was on his return in 1996 that he decided to take over the estate.
In search of pleasure
Wine is a passion. Indeed, Cyril Marès takes real pleasure in making his blends. Meticulous, he is keen to find the perfect harmony between the different components until he obtains THE result. What does he want to convey through his work? It’s fun. This pleasure he had in making it, this pleasure that consumers will feel “let everyone feel when drinking it the pleasure that I had in making it”.
His favorite vintage, a complicated choice
When you ask Cyril Marès the name of his favorite vintage, the choice is difficult; He likes them all “it’s a varied terroir, in acidity, particular, very different for both Syrah and Grenache”. But if we had to talk about reds it would be its Tradition vintage because it is a pleasant red to drink, concentrated and delicious on the palate with notes of red fruits such as strawberry and blackcurrant. Or Quintessence, a red with a deep ruby color, long in the mouth. It is a powerful and elegant wine, notably thanks to its very ripe tannins.
