Émilie and Vianney Castan

Rooted in the vineyards

Both have in common a love of the land and good things as well as a deep respect for the environment. He, in addition, has a great-grandfather and a grandfather from the seraglio, who, very early on, gave him a taste for working in the vineyards. Together, they acquired a first estate in 2012 in the Terrasses du Larzac before, three years later, joining the Costières de Nîmes collective by taking over Château Saint-Louis la Perdrix.

A royal estate!

In the 13th century, the estate was the favorite hunting ground of King Saint Louis. He gave it his name. Closer to us, Philippe Lamour, former president of the National Development Company of

Bas-Rhône and Languedoc and at the origin of the renaissance of the Costières de Nîmes vineyard, was its owner. “When you arrive at the estate, you immediately feel good there. It is an old Camargue farmhouse, conducive to hospitality and warm moments. We also decided to make it an open place because people knew the domain by name but did not come there.”

So the estate organizes numerous events, including a big egg hunt at Easter (next edition on April 13) or wine concerts during the summer. The area is also suitable for organizing private events. “It is in the courtyard of the estate that we chose to get married, the place is ideal for sharing beautiful memories, we hope that others can enjoy them.”

A 100% Costières de Nîmes terroir

For Vianney, the Costières de Nîmes terroir has nothing to envy of the great terroirs of the Rhône Valley: “we are not only an appellation of small, pleasant wines and we know how to make great wines”. “In addition, the appellation benefits from assets linked to its soil and its microclimate to maintain its yields and its qualitative standards despite the effects of global warming.”

Le Flacon, the new favorite vintage

It doesn’t exist yet, but promises to get people talking! Le Flacon is a cuvée crafted “with royal treatment”: 70% Syrah blended with Grenache and 80-year-old Carignans, carbonic maceration, aging in barrels from a Burgundian cooperage… It will be available for sale by the end of April. “It will go perfectly with happy people, it is a wine for people who love wine, an epicurean wine, which must find its audience rather than its dish! »
